One of our special support activities is sponsoring a yearly gathering of F-4 enthusiasts. The event is called PhanCon.

We usually try to hold it in Sept or October. While all to date have been held in the USA, that does not mean that future PhanCons can not be held overseas. That is certainly where all the active flying is now done. It just takes a few good local contacts willing to spend some volunteer time putting it together. We've been doing this for over 14 years so we can certainly guide the effort. We welcome your inquiries, and support.

PHANCON 2010

Planning for PhanCon 2010 is well under way. Location will be Tyndall AFB, FL, and time frame will be October 2010. As the actual dates get confirmed we will let members know via the newsletter, AfterBurner, and also post same here.

You can get an idea of what PhanCon is all about by reading the intro to last years event below, and reading the previous years DeBriefing to the right. We will update both as information becomes available.

PHANCON 2009

Welcome. Our society sponsors once a year a worldwide gathering of F-4 enthusiasts. Aviators, maintenance personnel, support folks, hobbiests, photographers, modelers, watchers, ... all join up to share experiences, update friendships, and view F-4s in action. Some bring their extensive photo collections to share. We also attract lots of vendors specializing in F-4 memorabilia and merchandise. Below is a glimpse at what is planned for 2009.

The most current information, how to register and make discount hotel and car reservations is on our registration website: http://phancon2009.ezregister.com/ . Once you have registered do routinely check back there for updates. Among other things is a roster of who is also attending. If you don't see your fellow Phantom Phriends attending, do give them a call or email them to remind them of the event. It is coming up fast.

PHANCON 2009 October 27-29
This year we are returning to one of our favorite spots, Holloman AFB, NM. Our conference will be located at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotel in Alamogordo NM. On the schedule are of course visits to Holloman and F-4 and F-22 operations there. We are including GAF Tornado and predator drone operations as well.

To cover transportation, meals, and facility rentals the fee this year will be $150.

Hotel

We will be hosting the PhanCon at the Holiday Inn Express suites. Both the Holiday Inn and the adjacent Hampton Inn have given us a good discount on rooms. Reservations must be made by Oct 19th for the discount. See the registration site for details.

Phancon Reservation

Because you will be visiting restricted areas you will again be asked for personal information during the registration process to include your SSN or Passport, birthdate, actual residential address, etc. This information will be provided to the USAF authorities in advance of our visit. It will be kept private and not shared otherwise. Actual registration is via a secure link.

Cutoff for receipt of all registrations is currently three weeks for non-US citizens and two weeks for US Citizens prior to allow time for the base to validate the attendees. Check the registration page for any last minute changes to the cutoff. We are trying to accommodate everyone as much as possible.

Briefing

In the past we had a mandatory briefing the night before.. This year we will do the briefing on the buses. But don't miss the great reception the VFW Post is giving us this year Tuesday evening.

Other Events

The weekend prior there is a Holloman AFB Open House on Saturday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Both the F-22 and F-4 will be doing demo flights. Admission is free.

We are really looking forward to seeing you folks.

Vendors

If you wish to reserve a space or get more information  please contact our Vendor Coordinator via this email address: Email Coordinator. We will have a much larger room this year.
