An F4 crashed on takeoff at Cam Ranh 3 August 1967. The survivor states that one week prior to the accident, USAF provided a briefing on center of gravity problems-- CG shifting forward--when taking off with a 600-gallon centerline tank and full ordnance on all four wing positions. Is anyone aware of what the center of gravity problems entail and official USAF remedy? Any suggestion on where to locate this technical information is most welcome?
I made 337 take-offs in similarly
cofigured F4s, up at Chu Lai. There
is no shift in CG on take off, only
over- rotation, it's easy to do especially
at Max gross; back side of the power curve and all
that stuff. Regards, Bob
