hi there,

hi there,

at this moment the Mighty F-4 is still phlying in Greece, Turkey, Japan, S. Korea and Egypt. Looking to your message, sorry to disappoint you, but indeed in Iran the F-4 is still used (see ST 20/2 and ST 21/1).

Just wondering....

I was very saddened to hear that the very last Phantom being used as a drone was recently destroyed in air combat training for current fighter pilots. broke my heart honestly. as to the nation of japan flying the Phantom I have pics of a few in Japanese colors on their final flight in 2008. they were painted in the black and gold of the fictional "Cosmo Tiger" fighter wing from the Space battleship yamto " series of films. (My star Trek fan group uses the same colors and for the same reason, and we are named the "Black tigers")  I hate to think Iran has any Phantoms, what a waste! if war ever breaks out those Phantoms are dead meat as Iran is not gonna ever have Pilots who are as well trained and lead as American pilots. the sad result is they will all be lost. on the Upshot I recently read that a few Nations are actually recalling thier Phantoms back to duty, for flight demonstration teams by popular public request. :)

update for Howling Mad

"....hear that the very last Phantom being used as a drone was recently destroyed" That was for the QF detachment at Tyndall AFB this past spring. There are still a number of them flying out of Holloman AFB as drones. However the program will end sometime next year.
